Looking more into the wiring, comparing the nh50 to nh125 cluster and hand controls. The major difference is the aero 50 cluster and hand control wiring is combined together with these wide connectors. The nh125 wiring harness I'm using has separate plugs to the cluster and individual bullet connectors to the hand controls.
There is a few more wiring differences that will need problem solving. The nh125 is a 1984 and my aero 50 is a 1987, a lot of honda models made a lot of changes between 1985 and 1986 models.

I did enough wiring to get it fired up for the first time, nothing else works at the moment. The nh125 did idle steady so that's a good sign, lots more work to do though.
Here's my to-do list:
Run additional wiring from the foot brake switch to the hand brake switch.
Extend positive and negative wires to battery.
The nh125 has a 2 wire fuel level sending unit and the stock 50 tank I'm using has 3 wires, plan on running 1 additional wire up to the fuel gauge on the cluster.
The oil level sensor on the nh125 harness uses 3 wires and the stock 50 tank has 2 wires, need to figure out which one of the 3 wires I won't use.
Need to cut and solder many electrical connector plugs, I just did the ignition switch and run/kill switch to make it run.

Made some progress on wiring, cut off the wide connectors from the cluster and soldered on nh125 connectors.

Pretty much done with wiring, everything appears to work. It was a little more work than expected, made over 25 solder connections.

Been hoping to see some updates on this build! Gonna be a rippin scoot for sure. The nh125 had a curb weight of 196lbs and was able to run 55-60mph. I can only imagine what it does in a featherlight Spree frame. Anyone want to make some guesses on top speed?

Yeah it should be a good ripper, the truth about swapping to bigger engines is the ratios are still the same so the top speed doesn't change much but it does increase acceleration greatly. A stock nh125 is a little bit of a slug off the line until I start modding it. I have a couple ideas on modding the nh125 driveface but for now I just need to do maintenance on it.

Had to get a longer rear brake cable, first one I ordered was longer than advertised. Second cable fit but metal collar at the end broke after pulling the hand lever couple of times. Hope this third cable is the winner...

It might be done by then but if the ride lands on a crappy weather day I'll probably just skip it. They should start a summer or fall scoot ride, early spring weather here sucks. I guess I'm just a fair weather rider, I took it for a spin around the neighborhood today and froze my asss off.

I made my own harness for the lights, just need to stick it to the frame.
