oh ok. i thought all that could be taking care of with the air/flew mixture screw but i wasn't 100% sure. guys from stuntbase.com premix all there stuff, when i asked them they said i dont need to re jet or anything.

got the gears taking care of, got the motor all back together. now i just got to put the body together and wait for warmer weather. it would be hard to ride in the hail thats hitting right now.

one more question; is it ok to break in a motor in cold * temperatures? And how long should i let it idle to warm up before i take it for a ride?

Which would you rather do smoke a bore from leaning out or run rich and have the bore last for thousands of miles?

ok so i started it up today after getting it all back together. it starts first kick every time. i let it warm up for a good 4-5 minutes and when to go for a spin. It bogged really bad, hardly would move. so i let it warm up more. same. thing. it seem like it might not be getting enough air. took my filter off and tried different filter. same thing. as i took it off to put my other one on my step dad revved it.
it sounded amazing. took it for a short spin and it went like a son of a b****, now my problem is i cant find an air filter that lets enough air though. any ideas? so far i have tried the stock box, a uni pod filter, and my custom filter shown a few pages back.

i also broke down today and got some good 2-stroke oil along with 10w-40 for my final reduction case.

Plug chop it for safety first, then play with jetting/air boxes. It shouldnt have any issues breaking in during the winter.

Why not use a filter you have and down jet? That's the "carb tuning" part that comes into play with any new engine kit..

Stick to a good open filter then jet accordingly. I hope you have a few jets to pick from.. 1 unsure jet just won't do man.

try to go to honda and get some if you can. Not sure what style they are, but if they're large/small hex/circular mikuni's should be easy to find. usually $5per jet, but I've gotten a bunch for free just by talking to the guys. Some are cool and some are not and they'll charge you.

JETTING PROPERLY IS CRITICAL TO KEEPING YOUR ENGINE RUNNING RIGHT!

EX) I down carbed my Triton from 19mm arreche back to stock carb while at 70cc. Tried running 90main with open filter, ran like s***, w/ box same. Then down to 85main slightly better w/ filter, but sht w/ box. Down to 80main, could gurgly get to 30mph (almost there). Down to 77.5main + stock box, works like a charm.

It's tedious, but finding a proper jet is a crucial part to not burning up your cyl.

Alternatively if you have spare stock main jets, you can slightly file them to open them up but that method is tricky and unsure. just another option though.

now that i think of it i know some one who words at honda powersport dealer. Im not like good friends with him or anything but i know, hes a really cool guy so ill talk to him and see if he can get me some for cheap or free.

But yeah, thanks for the advice. How bad do you think it would be to run with no filter for a short wile till i can get more jets?

Pretty bad, especially since you still dont know if you're running too lean even though it works.

I highly dont recommend running without a filter at all. Try to use your uni filter and change the clip positions on the slide, that may help too. What size jet are you using now?

im using an 88 jet that came with all my parts.
Today i rode it to work with out a filter. left it idling with the filter in it(yes i carried it with me ) when i went in to see if i had to work today. turns out i didnt. went for a ride with the filter still in and it seem to run fine.
I think it has to do with the warm up time, like with this cylinder and how cold it is out it takes a long time to get warmed up. going by what happen today i think it just has to warm up for a good long time and then its good to go. this make since motor wise?
Or is this a sign of to lean/rich?

ok i just got a chance to pull the plug. not the color i want.

all around the color gray. its black but very light at the same time. Oh also im running about 37:1 gas/oil. should a i back off some?

My d*** speedo cable just broke. i was doing like 25mph, gunned it for a second, it jumped to 30mph then the needle just dropped to nothing. that sucks because you cant do a good break in with out knowing how fast/how far you've gone.
