Today i rode it to work with out a filter. left it idling with the filter in it(yes i carried it with me ) when i went in to see if i had to work today. turns out i didnt. went for a ride with the filter still in and it seem to run fine.
I think it has to do with the warm up time, like with this cylinder and how cold it is out it takes a long time to get warmed up. going by what happen today i think it just has to warm up for a good long time and then its good to go. this make since motor wise?
Or is this a sign of to lean/rich?
Make sense to me, my Triton is exactly same way with T6 70cc cylinder and upjetted stock carb. Usually need to give it some throttle for it to start, then rev it a bit before it can idle, and it'll run a bit choppy unless warmed up.

If the 88 is a mikuni type jet that should be plenty for an open filter and 70cc on a stock carb so sounds pretty good to me.

So what kind of speeds you think you're getting??

i wish i could know. with the break in i wasn't going to take it top speed till i had a little bit of a better break in. BUT before i was able to take it to top speed one time the speedocable broke.
When i got it the cable was broke so i took the one off my 92. so know i have to go out and buy one.

The motor isnt right. it has drag, it fells like when im taking off its pulling hard. when im going if i let off the gas it kinda * back some. when its off the back tire seems to spin fine. Its just weird thing.
Also what do you think of the plug.

it got a little bit warmer out ( 45* F or so) and it now runs with filter fine. its all how cold it is out.
But yeah. its seems to run good once warmed up. but god it never gets warmed up. i got it out this morning, started first kick with out giving it gas or anything. let it idle for a good 10 minutes. went to take it to work. and the motor was still cold.

over here in wisconsin its was 24*f yesterday morning and it didnt want to start, the kicker assembly was so cold it wasnt coming all the way back to the start positiong of the kick gear, i had to lift it with my foot, but when i left school it was warmer out (not by much) and the kicker worked just fine. i talked to the guys at my local yamaha dealer ( i know what is a honda rider doin there) asking about plugs, because i was looking into gettin a brp4sha which is the listed cold weather plug for my bike and they couldnt find one when they called the honda dealer 1 town over or in the ngk spark plug catalog. the guy told me the brp8sha which is an extended high speed plug would work just fine. but i should let it run for about 30 seconds, kill the engine, then to start it again and let it warm up for a bit while playing with the throttle to get it goin. i tried doing this, this morning and it seemed to work just fine. i also accidently forgot to put it in my garage the other night so it sat on the patio in front of my utility shed, lol

ok so i got my new cable in today ( honda's warehouse is moving slow so they took forever ) and put it on. Since i still didnt know my top speed i decided to take it for the First top speed run. But i wanted to show you guys im not full of s*** so i grabbed a camera. then i learned going fast and trying to get a picture is harder then it looks.
Image
this is all i could get it to with the camera in my hand. but if i put the camera in my pocket and got more aerodynamic the needle would sit right under MPH. kinda like when you under line something ( ie. MPH)
I didnt think much about letting the motor cool off since its 40*f out. so i let my step dad take it for a spin.
Image
that is him hitting about the same speed i had.

Something seems wrong. when i got it out it was smoking allot. not a big deal its a 2 stroke and im running it kinda rich. when riding it it was smoking allot. again not a big deal. when i pulled into my drive way my step dad pointed out that it isn't smoking at all. and he was right it stopped smoking. Whats up with that?
Is there a chance my premixed gas separated a little and it ran way to rich for the first part. and after it ran out of that run just gas? Also does any one know what speed im hitting up there? even a ball park guess would be nice.

there is way to much noise. grinding and rattling of all sorts. it was there before i upgraded it. but its really starting to concern me now. i thought i would find the cause when i had it all tore down. i cant find any loose parts or anything that could be rattling or grinding. *...
