My 86 spree is cold blooded as he#%*! I've cleaned the carb real good, used fresh gas, sea foam, Drano'd the exhaust, charged the battery, and I've adjusted the carb to MANY different settings and it still stall's when I stop. And during the warm up it spits and sputters until it warms up. After a few miles it runs fine.

Greetings:

You can pull the bystarter and bench test it if you have a cheap multi-meter. It should read less than 10 Ohms across the terminals. Then measure it very precisely cold, and connect a 12v source across its terminals. Wait 8 minutes and measure again for a 5mm "Erection". If it fails either test, the bystarter's failed. It is said that used Honda ones are better than new Asian knockoffs.

But before you do all that, change the spark plug if you have not already done. Many times that's all it is. Mileage and appearance don't matter. It's a $2 investment that can save hours of pointless work. Get a box of 10, so you won't be tempted to cheap out and try to clean it.
