ok so the good news is that i fashioned a new exhaust gasket out of 3/4 copper pipe and it works great, the scoot tops out at 45 instead of the 40 that it was doing with the keli variator. but when putting the exhaust back on one of the studs popped and snapped off. i know this piece is replacable, but what size and thread is the stud? the nice thing is that it still runs great in the mean time!

Glad your homemade gasket is working out!
I think exhaust/cyl uses an M6 thread stud, about 18-25mm (3/4 to 1")

Nope nothing special there, it just has an unthreaded section in the middle.

Where does one find such a stud? Is there a honda part number or it is a hardware store item?

Greetings:

Honda part only, or you can buy a stick of something called All-Thread in the M6 size and cut a dozen studs from it. Machine shops and metal suppliers in the Bad Part of Town carry the stuff. Thread a nut on before you cut it and the nut will chase the end threads when removed.

I can't believe this thread got raised from the dead... but yes they are m6 studs that you can pick upfront most any hardware store. I found some Ph blaster every couple of hours for a day or so, then dremel a slot in the remaining stud. Then hit it with an impact wrench lightly will take it right out.
