so i have a 87 right now with a af16e motor on. i noticed that the wireing for the motor is all spliced up to fit the 87 wire harness. there are two medium size plugs and a wire. now i want to put that motor into a s or dd50 but those bikes have one big plug and a wire. anyone can describe how to do the wire so that i can convert the two medium plugs i have now to one big plug? thanks.

Let's see if I understand what you are saying.

Have an AF16 engine, which has been converted to an 87 (something).
Want to convert it back to an AF16 connector to again fit an Elite S.

Easiest way is to get a used harness, cut off what you call 'the big connector' leaving some free space on the wires, then match the wire colors up and splice. I'd cut/strip the wires, slide heat shrink tubing over each one, solder & shrink one by one, then wrap with electrical tape.

Otherwise -
Get out the service manual, track down an equivalent connector and wire the connector to match.

yeah. i thought the wires would be like all the same color, but since they are colored then it should be easy. not too sure though, i guess i'll find out when i take the motor off the bike. right now the panels are making it too hard to get to the wires and dont' want to take the panels off just to check the wiring. thanks.

Will be an easy job. The wires are uniquely color coded. You can verify that before taking the covers off. Look at the wiring diagram in the service manual.
