cheap ruckus

Buddy of mine fell on hard times and came to me today and said if I can come up with $450 I can have is ruckus. Is this a good deal? Sounds like it to me. It's red, and has a bent brake handle. I *believe* it's an 02. Tell me more about these, I know mods are few and far, but this is 4 stroke, he wants to get a car and I just might trade his *. I rode it and I really like it. I still have all the parts for my CH150 motor, I seen Werx did a 250 swap, I'll do a 150 swap and stick that Ruck motor in my Spree. I have the 150 motor already... Just have to replace a few small parts that require top end disassembly...

Let me know!

A good deal? NO... It's a steal. Throw in a little extra because he's your buddy.

It is at least a 2003. That's the year they started. Trade in is $800, Retail is $1300.

Mods? Do some research. There's more stuff for mod than you realize. You can do as much with a Ruckus as you can with an Elite, except you are dealing with 4 stroker.

I have yet to see a part on a ruckus that cannot be modded. BUT IT. Lunytune is right, that is a steal.

liquid cooled four stroke. not the best out of the box, even for a four stroke, does not have the 'honda reliability' until 2006 model-poor design for ventilation on early model crankcase so the lowerend bearings give out between 5000 and 10000 miles. replacement tires are not as cheap as your spree tires, but aftermarket is way better than on your spree. I bought my battery from another source, the dealer wanted $120 and the yamaha dealer only wanted $65...tough choice. you can expect mid to upper thirties depending on the breakin of that motor. you can expect an easy 90mpg but I've heard of 135mpg on trips. no storage so buy the underseat net for it.
how is this for starters.

If not for just the resale value, buy it. In KC a ruckus will sell almost instantly for about 1400 and below on craigslist.

Well guys, I made a deposit on her for $60 today. When I can pay the rest and pick it up, no one knows. I'm fallen upon very hard times, my parents are being total * and kicking out me and my lady for no reason, so we have to sell our car to obtain enough money to get on our feet. My original plan was to sell the car and pick up this bike, but he's willing to hold it, I hope.

I got to say, I was impressed with the price. He even has an original title from Honda with his name on it. I double checked today, he says it's a 2006. My eyeballs almost exploded, if I'm not mistaken this is a $2,000 bike!

Right?

Scooterwerx, how would you go about getting it from Michigan all the way to California? I'd be happy to resell to you for a rock bottom price if I can swap my car for it. We need the money bad and I'll do whatever I have to do.

And I just run across this:

http://saginaw.craigslist.org/mcy/1301036771.html

that confirms my suspicion of value was close.

That's a seller's asking price, not necessarily what it's worth.

Go to Kelly Blue Book for motorcycles: - - - http://www.kbb.com/motorcycle

Trade in value on the 2006 is $930
Retail value is $1450

So you made a down payment without the ability to pay for the rest? *? Sounds like you're in no position to be buying ANYTHING other than the bare necessities my friend.

Yes, the 2006 is much better for long term reliability, like over 5000miles gets iffy on the early models. plus, the 2006 ruckus was improved in more than just the crankcase venting but you will go 40mph instead of 35mph. excellent deal...if you can get it.

What price do you want for it? I would be interested for the right price, and Iowa is closer than California...if scooterwerx doen't find it feasible....
