I don't know about WI, but here in Washington you take your Bill of Sale to the DOL. If the sellers name matches they issue you a title. If not they will register it in your name. In 3 years, if no one reports it stolen or steps up and claims it, they issue you a title. Done it 3 different times and I have title to all 3 vehicles now including my Spree. Can't hurt to call them an ask.

Well you just wasted you're money and but a "pit bike". No title in WI means no registration, ever. BOS doesn't mean squat to our DMV.
Sorry to break it to ya.

There has to be a way to get a lost title. I would call and ask before I would give up.

Possibly find the original owner for a lost title claim, but I doubt the DMV keeps records for more than a couple years.
Taken from WI DOT website:
"You must register your moped and you must obtain a certificate of title. If you buy from a dealer this will be taken care of as part of the purchase transaction. But if you buy from a private party, make sure you obtain a title from the seller that has been signed by all owners and from which all loans have been cleared by the lending agency."

Pretty much the best/only option.

That says the best way, not the only way. There has to be a system to get a title if it is destroyed or lost. Here there is a 3 year waiting period before they will issue it to you but you can get one.
