I also read somehere about a washer in the exhaust that needs to be drilled out. I just want to make the right mods the first time around :) Any tips would be greatly appreciated! :bowrofl: Thanks

hey i just got the exact same scooter last weekend and i have been fixin it and tunin it do to the lack of the previous owner doing any of it. anyway yours only goes 25?? mine tops out at about 34-35mph right now..but im with you in trying to find ways to get a little more out of it without doing a motor swap or anything crazy. even going downhill it wont go over 35 and im sure thats do to some kind of governor on this model and what not. What can we do guys??

EDIT,,now that i read some other posts im not sure if mines and Iowa or not...from what i see if its and Iowa then it wouldnt do 35 like mine does? hmmm

Yeah it sounds like you have a normal SE50... I hope that I got a good deal at 200.00 bones for this Iowa model... besides having to change the fuel * valve and clean the carb about 4 times.. It runs really good, and hauls my 204 lbs. up any hill around these parts :thumbwink: I am confident(from what I've read) that changing the variator and drillin out the exhaust... It should at least keep up with some of scooters around town

The port timing is different on the IOWA model also, so it will never preform quite as well as a standard model.

Thanks Bear. So, I would probably need a motor swap or bore kit to achieve greatness? Engine block says SE50P 1987 (plastic says Iowa) probably doesnt matter...

Greetings:

I see where the Iowa models of the Sprees have different port timing from the regular models. However the spreadsheet doesn't seem to show different port specs for the IAs vs. standard variated models. What am I missing? :?

just a top end rebuild with a non-iowa jug should do the trick i would think, the crank case should be the same...
purely speculation, of course. i only have sprees...
