Honda Spree and Elite 50 Forums

I'm new around here, what exactly are the differences? Are there any?

Google a website called The Motorscooter Guide.

Condensed:
Sprees and Elite "E"s share a low-output unvariated powerplant marked AF05E. Slower to accelerate and quick to peak at 30, but light, nimble, inexpensive and very durable.

Aeros and Elites share two generations of higher-output engines with variator transmissions. Incredibly the early Elites and Aeros were also marked AF05E, despite a totally different design. They both accelerate better and top out faster than Sprees and Es. 1994-later Elites received the coveted AF16E engine, which you'll see called The Dio here. Search "What Engine Code Did You SA" for even greater confusion.

the main and most important difference is that the Aero was superior to the rest in nearly every way, ESPECIALLY in appearance.

There are two lockable storage places on the Aero 50. Compared to what are they way short on storage? All three models were only built at the same time in one year and that was 1987. The Spree and Elite only had small cubby spaces and no lockable storage. So I'm confused about your statement? Even if we are talking later Elites, they don't have much more storage either. Unless your comparing it to a Elite 150 or Helix, then ok your right.

Nothing's more debatable than looks, but t me the '87 SE Elite pulls the look together best. Pity about the storage space...

The Aero was likened by someone to a Barracuda compared to the later Elites' Mitsubishi look. Perhaps, but the Elite has a tighter, stronger feel 'round the corners. However you really feel that extra 20 pounds when you carry one upstairs.

I'm confused too. I've only seen one close up and do remember it seemed (to me) to be lacking in space. I remember access to the sparkplug was through a panel on the right side. Seems it may have been an '84? I'll take a closer look next time I ride with the guy.

The Helix doesn't necessarily have that much more space, but it's classy and actually resembles a trunk, not an afterthought for using space available as the Elites seem to be. There is provision for a luggage rack which increases capacity considerable with the official milk crate.

All in all, I like my new 86 Spree. It is nifty... and that's said after owning a Dio and three Elite SA's.
