I always wondered what his SN meant, haha.
I think he's the subject matter expert on PM forum.

Garage In Heaven
Greetings:
Yeah Jon's bikes are masterpieces, but c'mon! How hard can it be when you work in a garage that is quite obviously in Heaven!
Imagine what he could construct if he ever decided to build a Streamliner for the Salt Flats?

Looks like there are no MONKEY riders that are into Honda scooters
I would get one, but those things are very rare, expensive, and a money pit!!!
You need to be in a whole different echelon of customizing and restoration.
I bet there's only one member on this forum that has one

Re: Any HONDA Z50 aka "MONKEY" Riders???
The first "motorcycle" I ever got to ride by myself was a Z50 in the mid-70s. I must have been 13 or so... it was a blast. I've always had a soft spot for those things... big fun.
And no, I don't own one now.
Theyr'e not 'mopeds' in MI, so they're thin on the ground.
Cheers,

Re: Any HONDA Z50 aka "MONKEY" Riders???
I was wondering if the Honda Monkey aka Z50 here in US can be legally titled for street use. I was told NO by the Honda dealer, but if somehow found one that is legally titled it would be worth it's weight in gold.
I'd love to have an real Z50 Monkey which came with headlight and a tail light to scoot around on. I have NEVER seen a real Monkey riding on the street before. I think it'd be dope to own one

Those are both MONKEYs. They are the uber rare hard tails. Only made in the early years. The collectors and hardcore guys that restore prefer the hard tails because they are more valuable.
Too bad not titled, otherwise they would have been gone in an instant.

Re: Any HONDA Z50 aka "MONKEY" Riders???
wow... good post!
Thanks for posting up one of my pics, Brad.
-yeah, i have been waay busy lately and have not even been the computer in a few days. -i have actually been working on 2 EXTREMELY damaged Honda Monkey bike race-engines that were BOTH built by the same builder... and both built wrong. You would be amazed at how long a "monkey" bike engine will survive with just a trickle of oil flowing to the head as well as significantly off-timed. -in the one engine, the cam lobes were friction-welded to the rockers, the other a rocker broke into pieces and the pieces made it into the crankcase / transmission at about 9,000 rpm. -each engine had about $4000 in Takegawa parts on them.
Anyways, *street legal* Honda Monkey bikes are great... smooth ride, lots of torque, can be modded to be insanely fast, and the engines are bulletproof (when built and tuned correctly). As long as you have all the needed "road-legal" stuff, ie lights, blinkers, horn, etc. you shouldnt have any problems.
beware though: Monkey parts dont come cheap... and it's not like scooter tuning, in that some of the best scooter tuning parts come out of Taiwan, Phillipines, HK... The ONLY parts to use in building a Monkey are the Japanese parts, because all the other stuff is literally garbage. It does not last, fit correct, poor design, casting, materials...
Let me know if you have any specific questions i can help out with.
later, jon
