Hello, I am new to the spree world and have 2 questions. I recently purchased a spree ( i dont even know the year) its black with purple honda and spree logos. It runs but real rough the way i picked it up. i cleaned the carb and tank and found the 2 electrical lines tat hook to the top of the carb arent even hooked up. they were wedged in the wiring harness but not hooked to anything. any idea where these connect as there was no other loose wires? thanks heath

that is the bystarter connection could explain why it runs rough, if you do not see the matching plugs inside then it may have been cut,see if you can cut back the harness tape and find the matching color wires and butt splice or solder them together. hope i was a little help. good luck. have fun.

If there's little traces of the original wiring, here's where your bystarter should be connected.

awesome! thanks guys. its tricky since someone removed the electric start and battery and butchered all the wiring. that diagram should help. also, how do i figure out what year it is?

Greetings:
Welcome to the Forum. Timmy ...

was black and purple too. He was an '87. If the petcock cover is integrated into Tupperware panels, yours should be an '87 too. The styling was slightly tweaked and different instrument panel too:
Somewhere on the frame there should be a permanent sticker showing the model year to be sure.

Yes - on the Spree look on the right side (from the riders perspective) of the frame tube . It is about at the height of the reflector on the fender.
