Premix Anyone???

Im going premix with my spree and looking for a rough ratio to start at. I read a few pages here looking to see if someone posted it and unless I just missed it I cant find one anywhere. Also since the oil tank will be empty, should I plug up the hose so it doesnt suck any extra air in which would make it run leaner?

why don't you use the extra tank for extra fuel.
and i always read about premix and they mostly say the use 32:1

you either need to grind the gear off the pump or find that plug to put in place of the oil pump. ad i think it was said 40:1

Which foot do you put into your pants first?
I'm on Castor 927 @ 32:1 ratio.

this is an idea BUT it will require some work to make it function properly-IMHO.
why do you think the fuel tank is vacuum operated?
gravity is NOT your friend here...

if its a stock spree,32to1 is to much. 40to1 is good.

And if it's stock, why would you want to pre-mix?

40:1 in my pit scooter. I removed the oil pump and made a blocking plate for it.
Arrived at 40:1 via this forum and the fact that my chain saws uses the same.

And the oil hose from the intake to the pump???
Do I leave it attached or plug it up?

Greetings:
If you remove the oil pump and plug the crankcase, the barb on the intake must be capped. Otherwise the engine will be inhaling fresh air, leaning your mixture considerably. This lean mixture doesn't cool the engine as it should, and a seizure is likely. Your engine, I mean...
If you grind off the oil pump teeth and run pre-mix, I suppose you can leave the pump in place to serve as a crankcase plug and leave the hose connected. I agree with Evilone, if you have a stock setup and the pump isn't leaking, why bother?

Most of my toys run premix and just have never trusted oil pumps on 2strokes. Why do I keep reading about grinding off the teeth on the pump? What is the reason for this?

Greetings:
Since the pump itself is lubricated by the oil it uh... pumps, if you leave the pump engaged but do not put oil in the tank, the pump will eventually seize. (or so the Legend goes.) If/when that happens, your crankshaft will shred the teeth and deposit the steel shards in the crankcase.
