i now have narrowed down my problem to compression after extensive examination. when i put my thumb into the spark plug hole and kick it over, it is not hard at all to keep it in there. it is getting some compression, but it it is not much. believe this should be the only problem now. also, i noticed that after kicking it over a few times with the spark plug in, smoke was slowly exiting the muffler. any suggestions

Recheck with a compression tester, but I'm guessing that's your problem. Is your oiler working? Fog or oil the cylinder b/f the instrumented test, 1 tablespoon of 2-stroke oil.
