My Honda Elite...what needs to change(?)
To put it simply, my little urban stallion just isn't running like she should. I got a new air filter today as i had taken out the old shards of foam that were in there a few weeks ago. So now its quiter and slightly slower again...do I really need that filter!!?!?
And the thing has almost no throttle response sometimes. Half the time I twist the throttle halfway and a second later it starts to kick in and putt along.
And I think my speedometer is off, which would mean I'm barely making it to 32mph.
BUT! I am gonna go to my buddies house right now and drill out the stupid muffler. Hopefully it works out alright.

if i were you i wouldnt do that. two reasons you could fry the piston. seriously ive done it before and what a mess. and 2 it still wouldnt clean it near as well as cleaning it with sone pipe cleaners that things like that. i would buy a can of areosol carb cleaner to clean it once you take it apart.

i wouldnt put ant in the tank at all. i have never heard of doing this. hav u ever seen what carb cleaner does to plastic/rubber? well there are a few parts in the carb that can be destroyed. and never mind what it might do to the piston/cylinder. what im trying to say is. DONT DO IT! clean it the old fashioned way.

Some guy's swear by Seafoam, which is an in-fuel cleaner. Thing to keep in mind is that these "cleaners" are meant for larger tanks. With a total capacity of .5 gallons, you need to be careful how much you put in a scoot.
But the Honda carb is so basic, just 2 jets, and is easy to remove. Take it off and clean it manually, it will do a better job anyway.

...shards of foam? Did your engine ingest the old filter? If so, you will want to inspect your reeds for debris/damage. They may not be closing now.

Remove the carb, take the bowl off, and clean the jets... read the manual for details. You don't even need to remove the float.

After you clean the carb take the trans cover off, on the back of the front pulley you will see a restictor ring held on with 3 nuts take it off and you gain more speed, also check roller weights for flat spots, ramp guides for play, belt for wear, clutch pads and the 2 pins that ride the s-groove in the rear pulley.

yeh that is a horrible idea. if needed, take apart and clean, don't try to cheat.vette76 wrote:i wouldnt put ant in the tank at all. i have never heard of doing this. hav u ever seen what carb cleaner does to plastic/rubber? well there are a few parts in the carb that can be destroyed. and never mind what it might do to the piston/cylinder. what im trying to say is.
