With my new bore getting broken in nicely, I have been thinking about getting a better pipe for my new 74cc bore.

On vt cycles they have three different pg pipes
Pg long
Pg short
Pg sectional

Can anyone explain the pros and cons of said pipes?
Thanks, and much appriciation.

get the pg long.easier to tune and makes more power than those other ones. plus if you plan on upgrading to a mini stroke later or even a small stroker, you can still use the pg long.

just to let you know that pipe is kind of loud if you live in an area that has alot of homes.I know how hilly portland is and with the louder pipe you might * the neigbors off or attract attention from the cops.If you don't care about noise than go for it.

i personally have a PG V8 pipe...... i was told that the short is good for low end acceleration and the long is for a top speed bike setup.... got no idea on the sectional pipe..... I do know that the PG V8 is a low-medium end acceleration......
if u livin in hawaii trust me....... EVERYONE has the PG LONG..... i dont know about u but i like to stand out from the crowd, not blend in.....
ultimately it comes down to what u want to acheive...... lowend, mid, or top end
me elite is set up for crazy low end and a low top speed..... my off the line acceleration is so ADDICTING. cant help but smile everytime u gun it from a complete stop.... i never saw the point in having a moped go 75mph.... its just not made to do that kind of speed..... u want top end than buy a NINJA BIKE
mine tops out between 45-50mph but i reach it in 3-4 seconds
DONT GO FOR A LOW END SETUP IF U PLAN ON DRIVING IT on the highway because youll have to stop and go, stop and go all the way to your destination (becuz i top out so fast i cant hold it steady at that speed becuz it wears out the bore so i primarily only drive it in town..... so yah
top end setups will usually accelerate alot slower (unless u heavily tune the thing) but will stretch out your gearing so u can keep going, and going like the energizer bunny
either way u can never go wrong with any PG pipe

Thanks baka.
And ch murphay, I already have the 28mmv8, the other v8 is made for huge bores(90cc pluss) and the 28mm v8 I have is best for stock bores to tell you the truth, not tuned 72 or 74cc kits like in my case.

do you have to get a new bore if you descide to go mini stroked
with a bore already broken in with the oem crank?

no but you will need the aluminum base gasket spacer or make your own gaskets out of gasket paper to make up the stroke being added.

That pipe you got will be fine.i have done some bikes with a 82cc bore and the stock pipe, carb and 9to1 gears and the bike still went around 60mph and still sounded stock. My yellow 96 elite s is setup like that just to have a gas saving cruiser for those long rides.

PG Long = Top speed, lots of rev, loud, needs a large carb (28mm works best with it), 3K RPM Clutch Springs, 1500RPM Center Spring, 72cc-110cc engine and $150.

PG Short = Better low end than a Long but not as much top speed, large carb needed, same spring set up as a Long, 72cc-98cc engine and $140.

PG sectional Performance Muffler = About as loud as a V8 Typhoon, stock carb to 28mm can be used, 72cc-85cc, 2K RPM Clutch springs, 1000RPM center spring, great low end power and about $140 depending on when we have it in stock.

Your best bet is to always call if you need help deciding what to get, we will help match the parts to your specific needs/wants and find you the best prices/options.

Your set up can take a PG Sectional Muffler but you'll need to spend a bunch more on the carb/manifold stuff to get the other pipes working well on your scooter.
