But I have a question! One half of the case made a sound when it finally set, and the other side didn't, but the case seems to look together. Anyone had this happen to them? BTW I installed it via tusk crank puller. Worth the 60 bux compared to 350 to get new crank, bearings and seals installed.

the flywheel side made the sounded like when i split apart the block.

It's sort of a "croak" isn't it? Maybe a Burp.
The light-press fit of the bearing over the crank - on or off - makes the noise, while the two cone-shaped crankcases amplify it. I wouldn't worry about the bearings' location. If you pushed them into the cases until they seated, and the case halves touch, there's noplace much left for them to go. The crank should spin free and true until you install the alternator. Then it sort of jumps from one pole to the next.

Oh man, I still have to press the bearings into the case before using the TUSK tool to pull the crank in? I thought the TUSK tool was enough to pull the bearings in with the crank... I guess the blow torch and freezer will be in use after all.

If the Tusk tool is used without seating the bearing in the case, then the crank flywheel will push the bearing only so far, whereupon it will remain in contact with the bearing. Furthermore, there's no guarantee they'll be sitting perfectly on the perpendicular plane to the crank. The first sentence on page 10-4 is "Drive a new bearing into the left crankcase...".

Whoever suggested the freeze/cook method, THANK YOU! I froze my bearings in the Frigidaire, while I baked my cases to a toasty 275 in the GE oven. Nothin' says lovin' like a crankcase in the oven, but fortunately Ms. Wheelperson wasn't home. Using more kitchen implements - salad tongs and cookie sheets - to retrieve said cases. The bearings dropped into their sockets, sizzled a moment, then slow-motion sank right down to the bottom. One or two light taps with the big socket and I was done. No risk of hammer-harming all that High-Per-sizhin Japanese steel.

Yup thats how I put my bearings in. I blow torched it! and froze my bearings. It helps ALOT!

Ah, de 'splainin'. I suggest you cover the aroma of GN-2 with a nice baking sheet of Pilsbury Crescent Wrenches.

I cannot wait to show you all how I rebuild an engine in 30 minutes. I will post how to rebuild a honda scooter engine with no specialty tools except the stator pulley. I need some help with posting the pictures.

also I know how to fix your problem. I will address that when I post the rebuild pics. I will use a old pal(elite e) engine I got laying around for an example.
