Honda Spree and Elite 50 Forums

I have the Honda elite sa50 It will start and run for about a minute or more and then die. when I try to start it again it just makes a pop sound. but if I wait for awhile it will start and run for about a min.

what year?
how many miles?
did it sit all winter?

clean the carb!

Classic plugged up carb. Once the bystarter stops feeding extra fuel in to the engine the engine dies because it is too lean. Do a complete carb tear down and soak it in carb cleaner, make sure all passages are clear (the info on carb cleaning are in the Tech Documents) and you should be good to go. However, if it doesn't fix it, then clean the carb again, even the old pros have trouble getting the little passages clear on these carbs.

A carb clean should fix it right up.

ok did the carb clean and it was still doing the same thing I pulled off the muffler and it stayed running. It was a pluged up exhaust. But thanks for the help
