spree-dio swap time!!!

Alright. the drag strip is open, and my old red spree is just not quick enough...
So it's time to dust off the spreeio project.

i had already cut down an 87 elite mount, but needed to relocate my shock mount.
one time i landed like this. it hurt.

so i marked where the new shock mount was going with my trusty sharpie marker...ImageImage
then ground out the reinforcement lump thingamabobbers to accomidate maximum surface area for my weld.
ImageImage
the metal is pretty thin, and it took a little tweaking of settings, so although it's not the prettyist welding ever, i am satisfied that it won't break.Image

The front now sat higher than the rear, so it was time to slam my spree.

Greetings:

No, a nice job methinks and looks solid. I trust that's some sort of Tempered bolt, not something from The Home o' De Po'?

Greetings:

In that case when the Pyramids erode to piles of sand that shock mount will still be solid. Well done.

Very nice.

Will this be a drag strip only machine? No bounce in the front end wouldn't be much fun off the track.

The rear weld is fine you should be commended on it. Watch out for cracks on the bolt at the nearest weld. I have seen it happen on other similar welds. A better approach might be to weld a heavy tube and slide your bolt through it particularly if you are using a tempered bolt.

I'm still amazed that I was able to fit my Dio engine into my EliteE using the stock mount.

The front springs can be changed in about 10 minutes with the right tools, and a shock extension will be employed in conjunction with stock springs of i feel like taking it for a trip, but yes, this is mostly a dragstrip/beach toy.
 and it still has some travel, about a quarter inch on the tiny springs intended to keep it from bottoming out
