hey guys, I have an 86 honda spree with 5000 miles on it, I recently changed the piston and rings, and it runned great with lots of torque. I took it out for a ride today and after a good 10mins of riding I came to a stop on a traffic light and the spree stoped runing. it just died on me and could not get it to satart. I haven't tried anything since it got kind of late to find the problem. the engine turns but it seems is not getting any gas, any suggestions before I try to find anything tomorrow morning. what should I look for? or has anybody come across something like this, thanks.

i'm going to throw this out there...more because its a funny story, not because it may help you.
so i was driving along, then all the sudden, i'm crossing a main intersection and the bike * a bit, then dies out, right in the intersection. i coast through, pull over...it wont start. i do everything i can think to...nothing works.
so i push it all the way home, take the plastics off, inspect spark, air, everything.
then it his me....
there's NO gas in the tank.mind you, i walked by 3 gas stations on the way home.
so, i go fill her up.
still wont start. had to suck on the vacuum hose to get it started.
good luck. i'd help...but i have no valuable input, just wanted to share an amusing story.

were you running wide open throttle? you have to go easy on the engine for the first couple hundred miles... or at least a hundred. the engine has to break in, or bad things, like seizing, can happen.

I had a full tank of gas, I check the fuel lines and they are completely dry. does this means a dirty petcok?

Greetings:
Suspect the vacuum line to the petcock came disconnected or sprang a leak. A dirty screen up there can slow up the flow but seldom completely stop fuel flow. Wouldn't hurt to check though.

hey guys, I opened up my spree motor today and found the piston and rigns fried. they were completely burned out and they scratched up the cylinder a bit. aparently the oil pump stoped working that is my guess. so now I'm in need of a new piston and rings and possibly a new cylinder and oil pump. if they make any new parts they all seemed discontinued. where can i get a good set up, piston rings oil pump cylinder and for how much, if any of you guys have this parts let me know pm me and see if I can get this spree back to life again and if I do I think I will mix the gas and oil my self to be on the safe side. what do you guys think, 4oz per gallon should be ok.
hey please help me out thanks.

Why weren't you running extra oil in the gas during break in? It would probably have saved your engine.

Lack of experience! the one who does not know, is like the one that cannot see.
