sa50p clutch engagment springs?

Post by premix56 »

i went to buy 2k springs for my 01 sa50p and justwanted to ask how exactly they worked. my idle is set at 1800 rpm and it seems like to me that the stock springs must engage right around 2000 rpm. will 2k springs really make that big of a difference in my take off?

2k is 2,000 rmp over stock, so if stock engages at 2,000. with 2k clutch springs your clutch will engage at 4,000rpm. It will only help with the initial jolt, but 2k would probably feel completly different

Wow. Thanx fellas. I ordered the 2k springs and a 9:1 final drive. Hoping for a big change.

don't forget the roller weight pack because your going to need it.don't expect to get it dialed in with just a few different weights.it takes more than that.and don't forget the center spring too.if you change one thing something else has to change too.thats how the tunning goes in these cvt trans.
Nothing like getting stroked!

speaking of rollers i installed 7.5 gram. but if you are running stock variator then i would think about going to a performance one.

I seem to recall someone saying that although it speeds up your initial takeoff, it somewhat slows the acceleration at high speeds?

Any truth to that?

I don't know if I'd be willing to make that trade off.

secondaries then. Doesn't matter much other than the ease of install or swapping ratios.

Clutch engagment springs have no negitve affect acceleration at any speed.

I think you are getting clutch engagment springs confused with center springs.
