Low oil light problems

Yesterday I drained my oil tank on my spree and turned the key to on and my oil light didn't come on. Is their something that commonly goes out on them that I should check first?

isnt that controled by a floating gauge? check to see if it is operartional take the sensor out and check to see that it isnt stuck
