Tire Size Conversion Chart

Post by coolbeans »

I'm shopping for some new tires for my Aero and found this really helpful page:

http://www.weeksmotorcycle.com/tire-siz ... chart.html

It has lots of info on sizes, load ratings, code deciphering and more.

what the chart doesn't tell you is you can do a direct front rim swap with a elite-s you will have to use the larger 'S' brake pads, also the speedo worm gear, plus certain tubes for a perfect ride

You're welcome...I found it especially helpful in getting a handle on the inch size of the metrics but also the fact that all inch size tires are as tall as they are wide (i.e. round and not oval profile just like the 90/90)

Also the largest tube size that you can use is 2.50-10 the aero speedo cable can be used on the s -rim.

that chart doesn't match the sizes there giving. 80/90 the first number is the width. 80mm converted is 3.14960 inches which is not 2.50-2.75 inches.all of the numbers given is wrong.
Nothing like getting stroked!

Greetings:

90/90 does not mean Height = Width.

The first number is the tire's nominal width. The second indicates that the tire is 90% as tall as it is wide, or 81mm tall. The height of the 90/90 Pirelli is therefore 81/25.4mm = 3.19 inches. Once mounted, the 90/90 tire diameter is just under 16.5" . This is confirmed by my own direct observation.

The 3.50 tire is quite a bit taller than the 90/90 - a true 3.5", or total tire diameter = 10 + 3.5 + 3.5 = 17" Setting the two tires mounted side-by-side also confirms this.
