Spree boggin at speed

Post by CHEVY-212010 »

Spree is doin good except when i hit "25 mph". Its revving up real good up until then and then it just looses powah and boggs out. I have played around with the carb, seeing if it is a tuning issue, but i cannot find out what is wrong.
Thank you all for your help.

This is the air filter attached to the tube from the carb to the box.
I have the 44mm bbk kit on it
There is a #74 main in the carb

put in a bigger jet or tape up 90% of that filter.

you should have got a 85 jet with the kit if its from taz im running a 88 jet and a k&n pod filter in a custom adjustable air box with just the k&n bolted to the carb mine bogged down when approching wot then had to back off to get more speed i think more tuning is needed on your spree do plug chops see what colour the plug is

Replaced the main with a #84 i had and it solved the problem, can now reach the 35 mark on the speedo, but a new thing is happening. When i try to exceed that mark it backfires and looses power.
thoughts or suggestions...
thanks :hi:

It may be an overly simplified answer, but I would make perfectly sure that the gas cap vent is not plugged up a little. If the vent becomes plugged, it won't allow the fuel to flow enough, and the engine will often run lean, and show all sorts of weird symptoms.

or now that you are allowing the motor to rev to its full potential you will propbably find its four stokeing at top rpm i would check the plug after a good wot run see if its leaning out if not then as far as i know it should be ok just when you start to four stroke just back off the throttle a bit your motor its kinda sounds like a rev limiter in a car get a tach and see what revs your pulling ill bet its high please someone correct me if im wrong
