Honda Spree and Elite 50 Forums

I originally posted in general discussion and forgot there was a build section:

Well, just dropped off my naked spree to a guy to have him put a 80cc 4 stroke elite motor into my spree frame. Should be interesting. I got to drive and hear the 80cc so I know it runs. I told him to take pictures along the way. He says it should be done in a week. So far the plan is to use the elite 80 wiring harness, hand controls and obviously the motor/tranny. I want to be able to put the spree plastic back on, I may have to modify the exhaust side side panel. I'll keep you posted. I can't wait to have a cvt tranny with 4 stroke torque.

There's no fun in having it done for you. Bah you cant call it your bike if you didn't build it. Bah

That is not true.
Not everyone has the time/tools to do build scooters on thier own.

I knew that was going to be taken the wrong way. I was joking hence the little I know not everybody has the time, but like Mopar4u you must have the vision as he did to do it. It is his I was kidding.

I know I know. Normally I do my own work especially with mechanical issues but fabricating I am waaaaay to green. I have a welder but don't trust my skills especially with a motor mount. And it will be done within a week.

Will be interesting to see how it runs. I never thought of an 80 elite to have that much power. It will definitely be unique and substantially lighter than the Elite 80. I would get a loud pipe going on it, cause if it can't be fast it should be loud!

If you have a welder, start making parts with it. Perhaps you could tack up the parts and let your professional friend really burn them in. You will learn if you do and won't learn if you don't.

So you picking this up Friday? Updates I want to see how he mounted the rear...

Here it is. It runs great, haven't had it on the road. I'm still working on the rest of the electrical. This has the elite 80 wire harness, left and right hand grips with brakes and throttle and complete rear end including kick stand. It will have spree plastic, frame, gas tank, seat and front tire. His welds were pretty good on one side, the other weren't the greatest looking. I need to clean up the welds. Basically he cut out the whole mount area from the 80 and welded it into the spree. He put a new shock mount and used the 80 shock. Where I have the maroon colored paint is where the welds are. As it sits it looks like the spree plastic will be hindered by the airbox and by the muffler. Either the spree plastic will have to be cut or some other configuration of the air box and muffler will be needed. Pretty sure the rear mud flap will rub with the 3.50 x 10 tire. Wonder if the spree rear tire will swap with the elite 80 rear tire?

Trim the panels to fit, don't switch the tire!

The rear wheel has a much bigger brake drum; you'll probably need to keep the CH80 wheel. If you really feel the need to downsize the tire, I wouldn't recommend going below a 3.00x10.

Will running straight pipe cause harm or decrease in performance? I would like to fabricate dual exhaust.
