We had these Tacts since 2003 with no problems! When I checked the cvt I found grease in the front variator. I have never seen grease in the roller area! I work on Jog style engines so this is new to me. I s this normal? Thanks, Derek

Greetings:
Early Honda smokers used grease-filled varios with an o-ringed cover. Toward the end of their US run, the 50cc Elites no longer used greased rollers.

Thanks for the info. I guess the next question is what dry variator can I change to, the engine is a AFO5E. Thanks again, Derek

You can change up to a Keli or an OKO. I have done this on my AFO5's Give you more top end. Working on changing one out for a Ruckus stock vari right now to see if I can get more speed out of it yet.

You can even run your current one dry, that is what I do. I cleaned all my stockers then put them back and I've not had any problems. Any aftermarket vari for the the af05, af16, gy6 50cc will fit. Some of the gy6 varis will not boost the performance though. Stock and aftermarket varis for the Ruckus will fit also if you grind out a little of the case.

You know what is the best tool for this grinding?

I just used my dremel with a metal cutting disk and finished with a grinding stone. I am going to try a different tool next time, similar to a rotozip but the craftsman version (all out of rotozip bits). Will let you know how that goes in a week or two.

Im probably going to try it today or tomorrow. Rotozip sounds a little scary. Mine has too much power and difficult to control. It always wants to veer off in another direction when I use it.
