pulled the tranny plug off of my ch80 to drain the fluid. Put the bolt in and filled the fluid. Drip, drip. Ordered and installed a new factory aluminum washer and I installed it, same thing drip, drip. I've cranked down on the bolt pretty good, anymore and I'm afraid I'll strip it out. Any other suggestions to make this drip go away?

if it is still leaking with the plug in it there might be a crack around there somewhere, you could try a thin rubber ring around the bolt head, but id be looking for a small crack.

cleaned up the area and took a look and didn't see any obvious cracks. It didn't leak until I took the plug out the first time.

So either find a nylon washer of the right size or put a small "o" ring on the bolt. Then of course there is always the old RTV silicone on the bolt trick.

I know it sounds silly, but you aren't overtightening the bolt, are you? The aluminum washers do not take too much torque to crack or disfigure. How do the threads on the bolt and on the case look?

May I suggest you obtain a roll of Teflon tape from the Home Store for about a buck? Wrap a few layers around the plug threads and spin 'er in. The friction between the bolt head and the cover should keep it from backing out, but a drop of blue Loctite on the bolt head will ensure it.

If it leaks after that, look for a notch in the gasket or someplace else. Oh, and the "Full" level is flush with the bottom of the bolt hole. If it leaks, you may have more than the Honda-prescribed 3 or 4 oz in there.
