Elite vs. Zuma

Post by GJbean »

Don't kill me, I am too young to die. Just wondering about your thoughts of the Honda Elite 50 vs. the Yamaha Zuma 50. Let them rip. Ms. Bean is thinking she needs a Zuma.

I have a Dio and would trade it for a Zuma anyday just because of the front disc brake alone...

no money for a new one. Thinking about a 1999 with 3k on it. and footpegs in the back for a passenger.

Ruckus is cool. But not lady like at all  and Ms. Bean does have to pop up to Kroger from time to time to GET FOOD AND DRINK FOR ALL OF THE MEN WHO LIVE IN THIS HOUSE. You have no idea how long it takes to get to Kroger when I am listening to ACDC and riding the Elite. I think there may be a path to Kroger EVEN FARTHER than the path I found. Might be gone an hour or so, if they get really hungry they can make popcorn.

Dirty deeds done dirt cheap.

:b2t: she tells herself.

Come on there have to be some ZUMA people here.

the 02-09 zuma ( bugeye) is a little larger than the prebug eye(89-01) and come with the better motor(horizontal minarelli). that 99 that your looking at come with the vertical engine.the prebug is lighter than the bugeye by about 30lbs. neither of those models come with passenger pegs. the bugeye does have more room for a passenger though.

Be sure to test ride them. It has been a while since I have ridden a pre-bug (2001 and older) but my bugeye Zumas are not as comfortable for me as my Elite S. The main issue is shoe size, if you have large feet, the floorboard forces you to pigeon toe. The pre-bugs are not as bad. The elite offers more storage than a pre-bug. Replacement parts are cheaper on the Elite. The elite is lighter than the pre-bug by 20 pounds and lighter than the bugeye by 65 pounds. The pre-bug is slightly shorter than the bugeye. The ride will be stiffer on either Zuma compared to the Elite. Performance parts generally cost more for the Zuma than for the Elite. The V-minarelli is getting to be about the same as the variated af05 with a dwindling aftermarket.

Was there a certain direction that you wanted this to go?

there is just as many parts for the vertical minarelli as they still sell the prebug style zuma(bws in europe) . they like that motor and style over there. they have the same brand parts for the vertical minarelli as the horizontal motors do ,the really high performance ones.stage6,hebo,yasuni,mototforce,metrakit,polini,and malossi to name a few. here is the 2010 model

That is awesome. I wish we could still buy those in the states. When I wanted to build my V-minarelli engines, all I could find were Taiwan BBKs and some variators with modern clutch options.

I also just remembered that the seat foam on the prebug is stiffer than the bugeye and the Elite. If you ride at night, the Elite lights are on the front of your bars so the light shines where you point. The Zuma waits until the bike is actually pointed that way to shine where the bars are because the lights are mounted on the body.

I would pick the elite sa50 over any zuma or ruckus anyday. I like the elite's parking portability and much less expensive to upgrade. Zuma / Ruckus = Moneypit IMO. :hi:
