Why did I waste all those years in Michigan!

Don't get me wrong... I love my home state of Michigan and lived there nearly 40 years!
BUT....Boy does the weather suck there! Especially if you love to ride a scooter!
Been riding my scoot down here in Texas for a while now and even though it's hotter than the face of the sun, at least you can still ride through November and possible longer!
I spent all April riding a buddies scoot where I never would have even started it up in Michigan until May!
I wish I would have left there years ago now that I've had a taste of the nice Texas weather for the last 5 months!!
If you have the opportunity to leave the cold north for the warm south..... Take advantage of the opportunity!!!!
Life is too short to spend it indoors!!!!

My wife left over 40 years ago. She dreads going back each year but her mom is still there in Battle Creek.

I honestly ask myself that question every winter. I don't understand why people want to live in that kind of climate. Some people really love winter I guess. Just because you were born somewhere does not mean you have to be in love with the place. I never did understand why people feel that way.
I would rather live in a more temperate climate and go "visit" someplace when I want to experience winter. It gets cold enough here that you have to be a real masochist to ride all year (can be low teens during winter). But it only lasts a couple of months before we will have days in the 50s when it is possible to ride. We also don't have natural disasters; no floods, earthquakes, tornados etc. low humidity etc.
You can't beat San Diego for year round great weather. Too bad it cost of living is huge. LA has good weather too but you have to deal with all those people. Arizona is OK, but you have to be willing to deal with 100+ degree weather, some times much more.
Oregon and parts of Washington State have decent weather but Washington can be pretty wet certain times of year though.
I say unless you love winter (and humidity) get the * out of Michigan.

I agree snowmobile riding is fun..... But you have to go to certain places to do it.
Being from suburban Detroit... You can't just get on a snowmobile and ride to work.
It's still no way even close to a trade off to nice weather.
At least not for me anyway.

I have to ride 5 miles from my house to get to the snowmobile trail and my wife could ride hers to work but never has (other people do though)
I need my truck and tools so I cant ride to work

Agreed, it just means you get to have more than one set of toys, er, I mean, Transportation for any weather conditions.

I live in northern lower Michigan. If you are an outdoor person there is no better place to live.
You can Ride scooters in the spring and summer and some in the fall.
Not to mention that there is no titles, insurance, or special licence required to ride it.
Just $15 gets your scooter legal for 3 years!
You can go hunting and ride quads in the Fall/Winter
Go outdoors and fish all year around if that is what you are in to.
And for everyone who has never ridden a snowmobile,
Snowmobiles are faster than just about anything! If you have never been on one, you don't know what you are missing.
And there are almost as many snowmobile trails as roads up here for all the sledheads.
If you live in Michigan, and don't go outdoors enuff, It is probably because you are not an outdoor person.

We went to the U.P. every year for two weeks in the summer to visit my Gramma, I remember when I finally drove up there with my CJ7 and rode the logging trails. Iron Ore is tuff to get off your rig, let me tell you!! Everything was orange!
I think it's fun to visit, but not for me.

Yeah, no offense to all the Detroiters out there, but it is the stagnant cesspool of the state. Yes, winter is long and cold.
As T-Jamz stated, Snowmobiles are pretty much the most ridiculous toys ever. Without snow, you can't experience that.

I have a 98 Vmax 600 with std. size weisco pistons and minor clutch mods. It has no problem hitting triple digits. The new sleds are crazy fast though.
People wonder why you would want to go out in the cold and ride in the snow, but its warmer than riding a moped in a t-shirt in the middle of summer

Who needs snow? Ever tried waterX? 180hp pushing 151" track on a 480 pound machine

BTW, my 670 summit will out run my 650 jet ski on the lake. I know a lot of people that would agree with you novs, but there is nothing like cracking open the throttle in -10 F to feel real throttle response. I can never give up winter.

Don't get me wrong... I don't hate snow.
It's the constant cold with no snow that sucks!
Being formally of St. Clair Shores and living a quarter mile away from the lake that is unusable 9 months of the year is what sucks!
My opinion is definitely of southern Michigan where all the fun things you speak of are no where to be found...
You get home from work and sit inside.
If you want all the fun you guys have in the north you have a long drive to get to it.
I like the idea of getting home from work and at least sitting outside for a while.
Id rather live somewhere warm and go snowmobile riding at my own leisure..
