Why is it that everyone that is hot rodding their Spree wants the SB50 intake and reeds (and carb) which there seems to be few of? While the 1985 Aero 50 uses the same intake and there were a * of a lot more of them produced and no ones seems to want them.

I like the cleaner look of the sb50 intake.

I am building up my '87 Spree with a Taz 44mm BBK but had planned to use the stock Spree Intake and reeds, and have already done some significant opening up of the stock Spree intake manifold. But the carb and reeds are stock.

Should I continue on with just the modified intake or should I look at a SB50 intake, reeds, & carb?

Thanks!
George

I like the SB intake because it has only one nipple for vacuum.
When the oil pump is eliminated, it makes for a cleaner look.
What does the 85 aero intake look like?

It looks just like the SB50 but has 2 nipples, but plugging a nipple is stupid simple, but is taller which will help the low end which if they are running an aftermarket carb and air filter is a good move. Also looking at the reed end it is more open than the SB50 manifold is. Excuse the pictures, I secretly want Wheelman status when it comes to pictures.

Agreed, I too see the benefit of an aero intake. I don't have a Spree anymore but, I would do it if I still had one.

Yes - this and Bear's intake comparison (Spree/SB50/Aero80/125 in Tech docs) need moving.

Also Trafficjamz came up with a mod to get four bolt intakes on the Spree, which I'm behind on getting moved to the 'wiki

Sorta......My mod only works to get a CT Manifold on the spree. The reed cage of other 4 bolt manifolds would not fit my creation.
