My six year old wants a scooter of her own.
But she is too small to fit on a spree.
So I am customizing a Honda express to fit her.
This is what I have so far.

Even the NQ50 goes too fast for a six year old
How can I limit the top speed to about 15 mph or so?

Just adjust the throttle cable so she can't get WOT. Then you could always do the IOWA thing to it on top of the throttle limiting.

I thought about that......but I can reach top speed on my spree with only half throttle
What is the IOWA thing? Is it the gears?

Weld a washer in the exhaust head pipe as a restricter and down jet the main to a 65, I believe.

That is what this is for

72cc polini with 8.4:1 gears did a 13sec pass at the track. I have no doubt that if it had 9.8:1 gears it could be in the 12's easy.

Put on a thumb throttle... small kids keep the twist throttle pulled open when they panic... been there before.

Thats really Awesome dude. She looks soo happy, kinda reminds me of being a young boy and riding around on my Spree thru the neighborhood.
I agree with ottoman as well, I paniced one time as a kid and kept the throttle pinned. Long story short I hit a parked car, flew over the hood and busted my lip pretty bad. 20 minutes later I was back on the Spree

And they are easier to limit, just thread in a screw with a nut.
