A little holiday work (pics)

Hey guys..

Hope everyone had a good holiday season! While on vacation my brother and I had a little time to rebuild and clean up my 85 Spree engine. The engine had a nasty metal-raqueting-grinding type noise since I got it. We figured it must be the crank bearings so we set out on the hunt for new parts (Honda sells most, but not all parts required to do the rebuild), and get it done over the holiday break.

Work done:

Replaced crank bearings
Replaced crank seals
Replaced crank case gasket (Honda no longer sells)
Sand Blasted exterior of crank case
Painted crank case with high heat paint
Polished Belt Cover to a shine (hard work)

The engine now runs quiet as can be and every thing looks just a little bit better :)

Greg

It was only Krylon. Laquer Thinner would have taken it off. :thumbwink:

Looks Good Greg. :hi:

Haha, maybe you can't see in the pic, but we took it down to the metal. The stock silver paint was no krylon, I assure you! I will post a better pic in the morning.

Sure does, but what year does that crank case gasket go to? There is a difference between 84/85 and 86. I was able to find the correct one on ebay for $8. It wasn't that bad, I was just saying it so people knew not to try the dealer if they were doing the same.
