The tsunami hit the West Coast at low tide and was a mere 6 feet tall. So it basically never hit the high tide mark. Very anticlimactic after all the over reaction by the government. But over reacting is what the government does best, just look at Homeland Security and the TSA.

Mere 6 feet? Raising the sea level for a minute by 6 feet can do some damage

Not when it does not get higher than the high tide mark. The water can't leave the beach and cause damage if it does not get higher than the high tide mark.
