ok i got this 4 stroke scooter given to me, sat in a barn since 2004(came from pep boys they say). they had it 6 months and the starter quit and they said it didnt run  anyway i got it to start and run ok. it will idle but not right. up then down then up and way down. i cleand the carb real good(3 times) all the air leaks i believe to be fixed. i can ride it up n down the road a couple times then it just peters out. i got the thing to run 36 mph (speedo said so). so what do you guys think is going on here? oh and where is a good place to get performance parts once this thing is running right.

What the guy in the youtube link wants to say is...."they are junk throw away scooters, but we will sell you performance parts!".

well got it running, but i have to cover 3/4 of the air inlet tube to get it to run right. i havent found an air leak but it runs. it will do 35 mph on a flat and 42 down a small hill. turn signals dont work but ill figure it out. maybe if it pans out ill get a few performance parts for it.

Sounds like you have a dirty pilot jet, and or a bad petcock.
my guess is the jet, pull the bowl off and take the jet out and look thru it,'
Also check the float , sometimes the on/off shut off pin gets stuck and wont let gas into the bowl.

Greetings:

If it's a CV-type carb, have a very close look at the diaphragm that vacuum-controls the slide. These are very easy to rupture - even the higher-quality Keihin items. No tellin' how easy it is to muck up a Chinese replica.

The sealing bead has to fit perfectly into the groove when you assemble. That's really easy to get wrong, too. If its bead gets crushed at any time during assembly - even at the Factory - and then re-assembled, the seal will be funky and the slide won't rise properly in response to throttle.

If you find an intact diaphragm without any creases, try to reassemble. If the diaphragm won't cooperate, let it air out for a few hours and then maybe try refrigerating it just prior to assembly.

no worries guys, i traded it for a 98 honda elite 50 that barley ran. got it home and cleaned the carb and it runs great.
