Honda Spree and Elite 50 Forums

I have an old 87 SE50 motor that I'm rebuilding for my spree. What BBK works best with a stock muffler and carb? Would there be any benefit to running a pod filter instead of the stock airbox? It's ridden on 35 and 40mph streets, so my end goal is to cruise at 45 mph at part throttle with good acceleration from a stop (not trying to wheelie, just keep up with traffic). I was talking to someone the other day who said 87's had larger boost ports and that there aren't any big bore kits available, is that true? thanks!

There are some 87 motors that have larger transfers than the other se 50 engines. As far as I am aware these were mainly in the aeros. If the transfers look to be about
an inch wide, then you should be good. But, if they are larger... Then you are out of luck in the bbk realm.
The first thing you are going to want though is some gears to keep you from frying that bbk.

Gears are part of it, but it's all centered around the BBK. If I can't get that, have to go in a different direction

I've got the 63cc bbk on my se50 powered spree. No problems yet. Stock exhaust will work as will the carb with being up jetted. I used a letter drill to drill out the stock jet. It came out to about a number 95.
