Ok, we've tried all of the suggestions below. Is there anything else you guys can think of that will get us running?

86 spree, starts but will not stay running unless I hold my thumb over half of the air intake on the carb. I've cleaned the carb in clean gas, and tried to adjust the mixture and idle while it was running but niether of those seemed to make a difference. Also made sure the diaphram off the gas tank was funtioning properly. I need help!
THANKS

you need an air box first of all. second do you have an auto by starter on there? an auto bystarter is a black thing that comes out of your carb... if you dont know. umm yea you prolly have a leak there. you should get a new O ring. idk the size, but others do. i always had all the o rings i needed. never had to buy any... still dont.

Soaking a carb in gas does not qualify as cleaning it. You need to take it apart and at least spray through the different jets/orifices with carb cleaning spray.

You can soak the carb in gas for days and it will not be clean...

You carb is not clean, you should manually remove all 3 jets and make sure you can see light through each of them.

Well, did you do those things and get no results? B/c I'm thinking you either a) have an air leak between the carb and the case or b) still have a dirty carb.
