The place to discuss rides, accessories, or whatever is tangentially Spree/Elite-related

Looking for a good shop for my '88 elite

Post by fstltna »

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good shop to take my elite in for an upgrade, in the San Francisco bay area? I'm thinking along the lines of a rebore engine and improved exhaust.

I would love to, but I have no garage or place to work on it right now, no tools, etc. Things like adding the rear cargo holder I can do. Engine/exhaust work is beyond me...

Honestly these are quite simple machines and are very easy to work on. All the information is in the Tech docs on this site. Also, plenty of people here will to give good advice to anyone. I say save your money and spend a little on tools. Have a sense of pride that you fixed it yourself.

Some members even carry them upstairs and wrench on them in the bedroom.

Nay, my Ursine friend. Mods happen in the Boudoir, as EliteGuy suggests. I like to leak Precious Scooterly Fluids on our priceless Persian carpet.

Sinceriously, the whole scooter is a back-load up the 17 steps. Easier to drop the engine and carry chassis and drive train in 2 trips. For the record, the dishwasher makes a pretty good parts-washing station. Only when Ms. Wheelperson is out of town, though.

Most of my money is spent on scooterparts. The rest is just wasted.
