Installing bore kit. Want to overview process

This is my second bore kit install in different scooter. I just removed my first and found one of the transfer port holes was widen (not by me). I remember after i installed it I read a thread about sanding around the ports when you do a bore install in order to help the piston rings pass by. Thought this might be what would have helped my first kit and prevent my new one from having this problem.
Anyone have proceedure for this? sandpaper grit size?

After boring it is good practice to chamfer the ports inside of the cylinder, usually at least the edges that are perpendicular to the piston's movement to prevent the rings from catching. If the ports have been widened much, it is even more important because there will be more area to snag. I use a small rat tail file to do the work, I wouldn't recommend sandpaper as you want to avoid any damage to the bore itself. It doesn't take much to get the proper results.
Most new cylinders have this already taken care of but it never hurts to check. If you are using an aluminum cylinder with a plated bore, be especially careful not to chip the plating.
