Guys,
The manual says 80 ft-lb for the rear axle nut. That seems pretty stout! Is that correct or am I reading it wrong?
Thanks,

It"s holding the rear wheel on. Think about how bad you will be hurt if the nut comes off while riding.

Torque is in the ballpark with 1987 SE50 which was 72-87 ft/lbs
85-87 Aero50 was lower at 58-72 ft/lbs
Axle thread dia is stated at 14mm. Aquick search gave a generic torque table with 80 ft/lbs looking ok. Assumption being the axle steel is better than a low grade.

Thanks fellas. Good points. I patched a flat yesterday. Now it's flat again so I get to take the wheel off again! Yay.
