starter motor won't turn over
-just got it from a guy on ebay (said it worked properly)
-battery charged fully i think -brake light and turn signals work, but do dim when i try to turn the starter motor
-starter motor made a sound but didn't turn, pulled it out and checked and re-checked ground and it eventually stopped making any noise when i pushed the button
-stater relay is clicking when i push start
any ideas?

I would BRIEFLY (<1 sec) hook up a 12V battery directly to the starter and see if it turns over. If not, you have a motor problem.

My starter motor wasnt working so I took it apart and it turns out the previous owners took it offroad and messed everything up so I had to get some toothbrush type things and "clean" it by lightly rubing the inside of the starter motor with the brush. Then it worked fine

(it's beter than going out to buy a new one when you dont have much extra money)
