Honda Spree and Elite 50 Forums

I'm going CRAZY trying to diagnose this issue. Any time I hit even the smallest pothole (almost even going over a sewer cover) The bike dies momentarily ( losing spark )

My spark plug is snug
My spark is great on smooth surface so I do not think the CDI /ignition coil is bad
My spark cap is brand new (NGK spark cap)
My spark plug is new
My engine starts up instantly
My battery is brand new
Wire harness into engine block ( to stator ) is snug
Wires to battery terminals are snug
All wire plugs are snug
My OKO carb is SNUG with very tight hose clamps
My ignition switch/key works great

anybody ever have this issue?

I hate it too have you tried fooling with the exhaust? I think I am developing a leak around the exhaust every time i hit a bump, ordering a new gasket to see if that will solve the problem. been through all the steps like you

This issue seems more electrical than anything. I would def hear if I had an exhaust leak as well.

I am thinking the leak only develops once a bump is hit then stops once the motor returns to a flat. I will let you know if it solves my problem when i get the new gasket. I made a makeshift one to test and the problem seemed to improve now it only cuts out on big bumps, i can even jump up and down on the seat and it not cut out. before i couldnt even ride in grass lol

Tomorrow I am going to jiggle every wire while the bike is idling to see if I can identify any trouble areas

ahahha good idea, i did that too with no avail. keep your progress posted. i am pretty sure we are having the same problem even though yours is the elite and mine is the spree. I searched the forum and lots of people have had the same problem

Spree with af16 though right?

no, this is on my stock Spree. still got some stuff to do on the swapped before i will even know if she will crank

Since this started when you installed the new spark plug wire end, my first suspicion would be there is something wrong with it.

I actually believe it has been going on the whole time since I got the engine running. I just wasnt able to tell since my getting was so far off.

You coil is bad change it

I don't think that is the problem

use a multitester on the electricals to completely eliminate those parts from your problem, the manual tells the resistances on the different ignition parts if i am not mistaken

Here guys look-

It only dies after the rear tire comes off the wood going forward.

I did this multiple times with the same results.

1) Front tire up on wood then down on wood = no changes
2) Rear tire up on wood = no changes
3) Rear tire down from wood = dies or almost dies every time
