Won't Start

Post by RIOT_S »

Good Day!

So the 1987 Honda Elite SE50 was running 3 weeks ago great and now it wont start at all after sitting for 3 weeks and I need some opinions / thoughts. Here is what I know:

1. Compression test reading: 90
2. Spark on spark plug when pulled and touched to head
3. Cleaned carb, seems gas empties from bowl after cranking
4. Sucking on air line from petcock and gas runs out of petcock through gas line when removed from carb
5. Won't start, used to start on 3 - 4 cranks
6. Replaced plug
7. Tried to put mixed gas directly in to cylinder but didn't fire (think I did it right...)

Thoughts? Other things to check?

It does turn over by estate and kick start.

Thanks!

Low compression, that how you think that?

What can be done?

Thanks!

A hopeful shot is to check the reeds. I had a scooter which on the previous owner's life ate it's filter. Bits of air filter jammed the reeds open. This was a no start failure. Cleaning out the reed obstruction and a new filter put this back to new at low cost. Theory to a running scooter is pretty logical, do whatever you can think of to get to 'know' :thumbwink:

It should still run at 90 PSI, one of my Aero 80's runs fine with 90 PSI.

If you have a good spark and jumping the plug gap outside the cylinder does not prove good spark. The spark needs to jump at least a 3/8" to 7/16" gap to be a good spark. If you have good spark then I would check timing.
