well my 83 aero usually starts right up. its bone stock nothing done to the motor or anything ...

my electric start has never worked. today i ohmed out the bystarter it read 5.5 and everything looks okay. when i go to start it (hold in the brake and start) it just clicks once... and if i do it again i just keep getting a click no start... well any ways i tried to figure that outday clicked it about 100 times checked all wire they all looked good .. so i kick it over and the battery was dead... no turn sigals brake light or anything... could my battery have died in just that 10 min i was messing with it being on? or is my stator bad.

i would like any input on why the electric start doesn't work and why my battery was dead cause at this point i cant figure it out at the moment. thanks guys . looking for a quick response if possible i dont wanna get stranded lol. it will start by kicking it no problem but the head light is real dim and i have no turn signal or anything.

Load Test the battery. If it checks out, there is a wiring issue. Try looking for damage and reconnect grounds. (GREEN)

Check the starter solenoid. That is what you hear clicking but if the contacts are bad the start will never crank.

So one would think, but newness doesn't imply fully-chargedness. Look for 12.8-ish Volts DC. Then you'll be sure it's not the battery. There's a FSM checklist for the charging system too.

Most new batteries are NOT fully charged. The need overnight charging at less than 2 Amps.

They also need to be rubbed for like 3 minutes before use :bowrofl:

Did you check it after the charge? Never heard of a bad battery off the shelf? Unless you tested it you do NOT know if it is good.

if the batt is one you had to pour the acid into . you have to let it sit for at least an hour before charging..

i kept blowing the fuse... that was my problem i took the speedo assembly off to look at my speedo cable i took it completely off . and i was trying to start it that way. and it kept blowing the main fuse i put the assembly back on and plugged everything in and it seems fine now ... however my electric start doesnt work still. it still clicks... so my battery wasnt dead i just kept popping fuses til i put the speedo and all with wires back together and everything works.

still need to look into the electric start :( ugggh im about to say screw it and not worry about it. seeing as it kick over on the first kick everytime. lol i dono.

You really have no clue how electricity works do you? Either get the battery tested or Image.
