Here is my 2007 CH80. I only paid $250 w/a clean title. It needed a new bearing in the transmission, belt, roller weights and front tire. I haven't decided what I want to do with it yet though. Do I keep it because of how cheap it was or flip it for a profit?

That's looking good. In spite of having more strokes than most, a great deal, troubleshooting and fixing everything. Filp it or hold is up to you and your local market. If this were me, I'd hold onto it for a season, cost of tabs vs good times, rides and knowing its back to 'new' reliable is part of the deal to me.

Thanks for the replay's Mouse and Brad. The more I ride the cheighty I really enjoy it. My F4i is getting jealous. I have been doing some research into upgrading it. So far I've found I can go from my 16mm venturi carburetor to a CH150 carburetor which has a 20mm venturi. A 52mm piston which the CRF50 88cc bbk uses. A stiffer center spring in the clutch, and I'll have the flywheel lighten on a lathe. I can port and polish the head also. For the exhaust I'm thinking the stock muffler off of a CRF150R w/custom header. Cheight dose 45mph now and my target will be 55mph. I believe that is a reliable and realistic expectation. My buddy is giving me this shock for free. I'll update my photo's tomorrow or saturday once it's installed.

I recommend.you get your Buddy a bottle of Dom or a couple of hookers for that shock.
It's a killer piece for which some of us would maim and kill defenseless children to obtain.

There are Keihin VE-24 carbs on eBay for cheap that might outperform the 20mm Honda items.

I agree with Wheelman on the carb thing. Honda restricted the top speed of a lot of their scooter by running small carbs.

I want to clarify the carburetor specification I posted. At some point in the past Honda used the terminology "venturi diameter" which was the measurement for their carburetors. My CH80 service manual uses this method. 16mm/CH80 20mm/CH150, I measured the engine side I.D. of my carburetor and have 20mm, the CH150 has 28mm. Now Honda uses the terminology "throttle bore", which is measured at the engine side I.D. So long story short I have a 20mm carburetor. Bear might me able to add some more information on this.

Wheelman sadly the rear shock did not fit. It was 50mm too long, also had a much larger O.D. I'll ask my friend if he wants to sell it and I could post it here. He had it on his Japan DIO.

When I finally start this build I'm now considering a 24mm flat-side carburetor. Those style carburetors use a spigot while my stocker is flange. I'll need to get creative for my installation process. Battlescooter has a custom build exhaust, i'll more that likely order one. I'll keep the updates and pictures coming as my build progresses. Or I'll just sell it and buy a 2-smoke. :surprise:

These mm carb sizes are basically meaningless. The only true way to measure a carb is by air flow, CFM, Cubic Feet per Minute. Because you can easily calculate how much air your engine pumps at a given RPM and then you know how much carb you need. I have measure all the carbs I have and the venturi measurements mean nothing to how the carbs are labelled.

Do you mean the shock didn't fit as depicted? You know its length can be adjusted by means of that threaded section, right? Maybe you conpressed it all the way and it was still too long?

Yes I adjusted it as short as possible and it was still 50mm too long. This shock really is for a much bigger scooter or pit bike.
