I have an 86 Honda Aero that I think has a slightly bend fork. I also have an 87 Honda Elite-S that's a parts scoot. Will the fork from the Elite work in the Aero? They look the same from the eye (except one's black) and this is what came up on Babbits for the parts:
51105-GN2-660ZA FORK, FR. *NH35M* (CLOUD SILVER METALLIC) 72.48
51105-GR1-700ZA FORK, FR. *NH1* (BLACK) (NOT AVAILABLE) $71.49
The first numbers are the same, which led me to wonder if the rest is just color/model related.
Anyone done this swap before?
Also, the steering lean, is ever, ever so slight. Only someone as OCD as me would really notice. You can visually see it if you put the steering to center & look very close from above.
Is it dangerous to ride in said condition? It doesn't impede the handling much and it would be murder to replace (it would involve buying new tools and most of a day for someone that's very busy). I was considering just leaving it.
Are Aero and Elite forks interchangable? (87 Elite->86 Aero)

The first set of numbers tells you what kind of part it is, in this case front forks, the second set of numbers tells you what series of bike it started on and the last set tells you specifics about the part. Color, etc. So if the first two sets of numbers are the same then it will fit. Of course none of this means they will not fit.LocoParaHonda wrote:I have an 86 Honda Aero that I think has a slightly bend fork. I also have an 87 Honda Elite-S that's a parts scoot. They will fit. I have done it, the Aero fork is better than the elite as it is shock assisted. But, never the less it will mount up and ride I think I had to adapt a fender mount but...

Need parts? Parting out Spree Aero and Elite!
