Hi, I've got a new to me 83 aero 50

when I got it it wasn't reliably running, it would run great for a bit then die, then start up after a while

i tossed a bunch of parts at it (I tried to do that newer ebay carb thing but it never ran nicely)

I'm back to the stock carb, air box, new coil and plug, new fuel filter and lines

I finally figured out that the gas cap was plugged and wouldn't vent right so that carb would starve of fuel after a bit :eyeroll: I also cleaned the carb during this whole fiasco

so, now, the scoot runs awesome, when driving, easily hitting 35+ with me on it (210lbs)

but I cannot for the life of me get it to idle, I have to artificially jack up the idle high just to get it to run and not stall when not moving

I cannot say if my bystarter works, I went to the ebay carb as the don't make new ones for my year anymore but never did get that to run well
I've read whats out there, but it doesn't seem to help much, I can't get it to idle low enough to see what the idle mix screw does for idle speed

i have a spree so im not sure about this butt ..

have you down loed the manul yet???

there is not a idle mix screw these a air mix screw and a screw for the idle that lift the slide in the carb so that how that works..
when you set the carb dont think that the stock setting are all ways right its a starting point ..

sounds as if your carb needs a good cleaning. plugged idle circuit, do a search for ( pin * o light ) get a gal solution of carb dip from an auto parts store, soak the carb overnight it will help to soften the corrosion in the tiny holes of the carb.
