oil pump plug oil tank

Hello,

I couldn't find thiz through the search but I wanted to ask if it was alright to remove the oil tank as long as you plugged the hole where the oil pump once was.

I know that we have to maintain crank case pressure and would therefore require a plug if you arenot using the oil tank.

I just wasn't sure about removing the tank itself.
If that were possible, then I would use that small storage space for something else.

Thanks a lot.

yea you can remove it and plug the hole, vt cycles sells them for 10 bucks or you can make one out of spare change :D some have even suggested grinding hte teeth off the pump gear so that it doesnt engage the crank and bolt it back in

sounds good sounds good
thanks mystic

Also,
I don't know how many people will be reading this thread but what do people do to premix?
As in, the fuel is small so I figured I could carry a 2.5 L jug of premix and just constantly premix and fill up but I'm wondering how everyone else does it.

awesome

also I totally forgot to ask this but, if you dont use the oil tank anymore, then does getting rid of the oil line sensor get rid of the oil light?
Ok, my wording is weird. Basically, would I have to worry about the oil light ever coming on if I plug the crank and get rid of the oil tank?
I'm guessing not but I don't want to cause weird problems.

Thanks always

My oil light is always on, you could probably wire it up (either ground it out or connect the wires probably) to turn off.

As far as premixing, I just carry oil. When I put gas, I just watch how much I put in, and add accordingly. 0.5gallons = 2 oz, 0.75gal = 3 oz.

I carry 2 travel size mouthwash bottles. They are filled to equal 32:1 for .75 gallons.

Add oil and .75 gallons and go.

I guess it doesnt really matter if the light is on or off because you know that that tank is not being used haha.

As for your premix method, you shut off the petcock before fill up the tank right?
Is it harder to mix in the tank?

if you unplug the sensor and remove the tank the light will not come on if it does you may have a malfunction lol i carry a big thing of lucas 2 stroke that has measurements on the side sometimes its not 100 percent exact if i happen to only get a half gallon or whatnot so i try to get even increments. they have a syringe at walmart that you use to measure 2 stroke oil for around 4 bucks :D just saw it the other day

My petcock (and most I've seen) are vacuum operated, no need to turn it off. Some of my friends put oil first and then gas, but I don't really get enough pressure from the pump to feel safe doing that.

I put gas, add oil, then rock my bike back and forth for about 2 minutes. After a while, you won't notice the funny looks while you stand there dancing with your moped, I call it the gas dance.

LOL 808BMW
gas dance hahaha
I just pictured myself doing it.
Btw, youre talking about the spree right?
I was looking to see how to shut off the petcock but I dont know.

So then..it is safe to add gas then oil and to rock it for the spree?

why would you want to remove it on the spree??? unless you have modified the engine the stock pump mixes enough oil without having to worry about premixing
