Aero 50 rear turn signal lights being weird after spark

I recently had my scooter stolen and recovered with a chiseled out ignition. I ordered a new ignition from an ebay guy in the UK, but while I'm waiting, I hotwired the red and black wires to make it functional. (with a U-lock through the front tire/mount when it's parked!)

Anyways when I was fiddling with the wires they brushed up against the frame of the bike and made a small spark. After this small spark, the rear turn signals won't work right.

The brake light lights up, but when I put on the turn signal, the brake light goes out and the turn signal I selected lights up steady on/non flashing. The headlight works fine.

Any idea what I might have done or how to fix it? thanks.

LPH, do you have a known working turn signal flasher you could replace yours with, maybe from another scooter? I believe the dash and headlights work off of the alternator. Everything else I believe runs off of the battery. Maybe Bear can help you with this. Good Luck to you. Happy Trails!

i had a very similar situation with my aero when the flasher relay went out. a trip to the auto parts store and about 5 minutes and it was fixed.

I agree with the flasher being fried.

Turns out it was the fuse. I replaced it with the fuse from my parts moped and everything's hunky dorey again.

The parts ped fuse is a 10 AMP and the one I took out was a 7 AMP. Will that cause problems if I leave it in there?

Sorry to double post if anyone got the other one I posted on another thread.
