I am in the process of restoring a 1987 Honda Elite s (SE50) with engine code AF05E. The piston I had measured three times, and am I tripping or did I forget how to use a ruler lol, because it measures 51mm with tons of extra material also on the casting of the cylinder jug(correction 01/04/12 the gaping tool has extra lines and that is why I was measuring wrong LOL). Sorry the picture quality on iPods suxx. I hooked up a sweet gel battery, and I could only get the horn to honk beep and tail light lights up when the key is on position, when I squeeze break levers brake light does NOT light up, turn signals do not click (flash) (correction: 01/04/12 got to get a new flasher unit), start does not turn starter motor (starter motor works had tested) (correction 01/04/12 :I cleaned the connection in the steering controls), CDI works had it plugged right into a 2005 SYM DD50. Rough guess I may need new controls, starter relay/solenoid PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong, umm... of course bulbs, regulator/rectifier not too sure if needed when horn works and tail light lights up. If anyone has got some 411 please help me out. This one will definately be a keeper when fully restored to factory, or maybe a 65cc refresh kit. 02/7/12 Met front end, bmx stem and bars, relocated fr turn signals, single headlight

Just got Legal today 01/2012, installed flasher relay today 01/18/2012, relocated turn signals 01/18/2012.

I'm at 99.01% So I can leave myself with options.

I'm pretty sure 51mm is a little over 2 inches, you're nowhere near that.

first download and study this. http://www.hondaspree.net/other/SE50_19 ... Manual.pdf it will be of great importance for your resto.

then download this one. ww.hondaspree.net/other/SE50_1987_Wire_Diagram.jpg

Also there is lots of info in the wikispreedia. ww.hondaspree.net/other/SE50_1987_Wire_Diagram.jpg

the headlight only works when the motor is running. as far as the elect. start it helps to have a multi meter for testing. could be bad wires, switches, connections, solenoid,
