I have a 84 spree.... stored it for the winter... i cleaned the carb really well.. re-installed the carb.. had to use starter fluid to get the spree running.,.. but once i got it running...the spree ran beautifully... it worked great for a couple of days --

the other day.. i went to start it and crank it once... i released the starter button too soon -- and went to start it again -- but now it wont' start.. i let it sit overnight -- and it wouldn't start again...

A couple of things to consider, prior to starting it the first time:
(1) New Spark Plug
(2) Cleaned the carb
(3) Oil change

Any suggestions???

Let's do the easy checks first:

-Kill Switch to "on' position
-Left brake handle squeezed

You hit the "start" button, and you get nothing...

Is your battery still holding a charge (or, in this case, enough charge).

Take a look at your lights as you hit the start button. Do they all but go out? If so, you may have some charge, but not enough to actually turn the starter.

If that's the case, getting a battery charger is always a good investment. If you find that your battery is just kaput, well, time for a new one (bring in the old one to get your core deposit back from the store).

If you're desparate, you can do what MySpree keeps mentioning. Take off your transmission cover, and start it with an air wrench on the main pulley nut. If you can get it started and keep it running, it may charge the battery for you. This is probably the worst way to do it, from a safety standpoint, so be careful.

thats odd... maybe your brake wasnt tight enough, and it was just kinda hanging there a lil, theres a little button, same switch that does the brake light, same thing for the starter

cleaned the carb a week ago... the best cleaning ever....

i left the bike stiing for a week... stated it up -- it tried to start one time -- but then again wouldn't turn over..

I sprayed some Starting Fluid into the carb -- and it started right up--

i came back a few hours later -- it started right up!!!

So.... what's the deal?
